Halloween Ghosts Made Fun

Halloween Ghosts Made Fun
Enjoyable simple decorative ghost ideas you are able to create in your own home. Old sheets, paper muffin cups, marshmallows, boiled eggs. These products can become mummies, ghosts, witches and much more. A small creativity and these products could be cleverly arranged spooky decorations.
1. Ceiling Ghosts. You might already have white paper cupcake cups, these make awesome ghosts. Utilizing the jumbo or king-sized cupcake liners are best. Turn them upside down. Now cut small black eyes out of a black piece of felt, glue them up near the top portion of the upside down liner, you can also use black paper-brad eyes found inside your local craft or office-supply store. If brass paper-brads are all that are available, you can use a black marker to paint them black. Make at least three pair of eyes for every cupcake liner so as they turn, you are able to see ghost eyes from every angle.
To hang them, thread a needle with monofilament or black thread, doubled and knotted, and pierce a paper liner from the inside. Pull the needle thru till the liner sits on the knot. Cut the monofilament next to the needle, then tie the ends together to create a hanging lip. Hang them from a chandelier, a ceiling light fixture or from the ceiling using a tack to hold it in place.
2. Errie small frosting Ghosts. These small ghosts take little time to produce. Lets begin by creating the white frosting.one and 1/2 cups sugar1/3 cup cold watertwo egg whites1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar or two teaspoons light corn syrupone teaspoon vanilla extractPlastic meal storage bagLittle sugar candy eyes, two for every ghostEggcups, cordial glasses, or any little dish or bowl
This recipe makes four cups frosting, sufficient for about 8 small ghosties. The frosting becomes rock hard if left to air-dry for two weeks. You are able to eat them when fresh should you desire or save them for Halloween decorations for a future party.
Combine the sugar, water, egg whites, and cream of tartar in the top of the double boiler: Using an electric mixer on low speed, beat the ingredients for 30 seconds to combine it all.
Boil a little quantity of water in the bottom from the double boiler. Place the top portion of the double boiler onto the bottom portion. Cook the frosting on medium heat, beating constantly with the mixer on high for about 7 minutes or till the frosting forms stiff peaks when the beaters are lifted. Remove the top portion of the double boiler from the bottom piece, and if using the vanilla extract, stir it in with a spoon or a rubber spatula. Beat the frosting for two or three minutes more or till it’s spreadable. Permit the frosting to cool till it’s slightly warm or at room temperature.
To create the small ghosties, spoon the frosting into a plastic meal storage bag, then snip off 1 corner of the bag, creating a 1/4-inch opening. Pipe the frosting into the eggcups 1 layer at a time. Applying pressure to the bag, squeeze out sufficient frosting to fill the eggcup untill it is level with the top edge. Then create a second layer on top of the level cup of frosting, making this layer slightly more compact all the way around . Create another layer on top of the second one, once again making it smaller around then the last one, then a fourth layer smaller around once again then the last one, then the final fifth layer smaller then the last layer but bringing this layer to a point. With every layer decrease the pressure as you slowly lift the plastic bag of frosting till the small ghost is the desired size depending on the size of cup you use. An eggcup tends to works best. Next step, tweezers are recommended, for the best control, press the sugar candy eyes in the desired spot up near the pointed final layer of frosting. As soon as the ghosts are dry, wrap each ghost in tissue paper and place in a container and store them in a cool, dry spot

Halloween Finger Foods for Kids

Halloween Finger Foods for Kids
So, you’re having a Halloween party for the kids and you need some Halloween Finger Foods to serve. Of course you can serve the standard fare like Chicken Nuggets, Hot Dogs and Chips but this is Halloween, so let’s be a bit more creative. You can easily make some fun Party Food that the kids will tell all their friends about. You can have the coolest party in the neighborhood!
So let’s start with some Green Slime Punch. This makes a nice center piece for your Halloween party snacks and you will be adding some special effects to make it really spooky. You will need a clear punch bowl for this to work correctly. It will also work if your punch bowl is tinted, although it will probably change the color. We have listed the recipe below. Feel free to improvise with the ingredients to suit your taste.
Here is the recipe:
Green Slime Punch
Ingredients:
2 cups boiling water
1 pkg. (8-serving size) Lime Flavor Gelatin
2 cups cold orange juice
1 bottle (1 liter) club soda or Ginger Ale, chilled
ice cubes
1 pt. (2 cups) orange or?lime sherbet, slightly softened
1 orange, thinly sliced
1 lime, thinly sliced
Preparation:
Stir boiling water and dry gelatin together in a pyrex measuring cup and let sit at least 2 minutes until completely dissolved.
Just before serving; Pour gelatin mixture into your punch bowl
Stir in juice. Cool to room temperature.
Add seltzer or Ginger Ale and ice; stir.
Add scoops of sherbet and fruit slices.
So here you have a creepy green punch for the kids to drink for Halloween. The green gelatin give a nice algae green color to the punch and the sherbet produces a foamy scum layer. Now it’s time to make this Halloween punch extra special. Take about two or three glow sticks and place them at the base of the punch bowl. Then wrap a towel over the glow sticks to hide them. This will give a nice radioactive glow to the punch.

Fun And Helpful Ideas For Halloween!

Fun And Helpful Ideas For Halloween!
Halloween is a holiday celebrated on October 31 each year. Its history dates back to early Celtic times. The Celts were a people who lived in what is now England up until about the year 450 A.D. After being defeated by Germanic tribes at this time, they were forced to move from their homes in England to Ireland and Wales.
The term “Halloween” is a shortened version of “All Hallows Eve” and comes from the name of a month in the ancient Celtic Calendar. In the first three nights of this month a festival was held marking the end of the summer season and the end of the harvest. Traditionally, the festival was a time used by the ancient Celts to take count of their supplies and slaughter any livestock ready for the long winter. It was believed that on October 31, the boundary separating the living from the dead was diminished and the dead became dangerous for the living by causing problems such as sickness and/or damaged crops. At the festivals a bonfire was usually created and the bones of the slaughtered livestock were thrown in. Costumes and masks were also worn to at the festivals in an attempt to pacify any evil spirits.
The colors black and orange are usually associated with Halloween, as is the Jack-o’-lantern.
Immigrants from Ireland who were relocating to North America during the Great Famine of 1846 brought versions of the Halloween tradition with them. Today in America the Halloween traditions and activities include: trick-or-treating, ghost tours, carving Jack-o’-lanterns, costume parties, bonfires, visiting haunted attractions, reading scary stories and watching horror movies.

Halloween Treat Ideas

Halloween Treat Ideas
Some people think that the greatest parts about Halloween are the candy and costumes…but I’m not so sure. Some of my fondest Halloween memories are of helping my mom make “gross-out” treats in the kitchen, and surprisingly enough, making spooky and gross-looking treats has become a bit trendy! This article has a few easy recipes that will not only entertain your kids while they help you make them, but it will also give them quite a bit to brag about at school the next day! These recipes are fairly simple, but keep an open mind and don’t be afraid to get creative with them.
Brain Cakes
Cupcakes (store-bought or homemade)
Food Coloring
White or Yellow Frosting
Pastry Bag or Sandwich Bag
First, you will need to color the frosting to reach a brain-ish hue. A dull salmon-color is ideal! If you have a pastry bag, go ahead and put the frosting inside and select a medium-grade pastry tip (you don’t want the brainy part to look too thick or too thin). If you don’t have a pastry bag, a sandwich bag will do. In one corner of the bag, snip just a bit off the tip of the corner—this is what you will push the frosting through. Go ahead and fill the bag up with frosting. On the cupcake, make wavy, brain-like lines from top to bottom, but be sure to leave a small separation in the center (this makes it look like two halves of a brain). Allow the frosting to set and serve!
Cocktail Toes
Lil Smokies (or other preferred cocktail weenie)
Flour Tortillas
Barbecue Sauce or Ketchup
Toothpicks
Cut the tortillas into 4-inch long strips, about 1/2 an inch wide. Heat them just slightly in the microwave so they soften up. Wrap each tortilla around a ‘lil smokie, about half way up. Secure the tortilla with a toothpick. Place the “toes” on a cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees F for about 8 – 10 minutes. Oh the un-wrapped ends of the “toes,” dab a bit of barbecue sauce or ketchup—this will be the toenail. Don’t forget to remove the toothpicks before you serve them!
Mini Mummies
Mini Bagels
Pizza Sauce
Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
Green Olives (with the pimento)
Slice the bagels in half (and toast, if preferred). Spread a bit of pizza sauce on each half. Arrange the mozzarella cheese bits on the bagel to give the appearance of a mummy’s wrappings. Be sure to leave a gap near the top for the eyes. Slice each olive about three or four times—the flat pieces work the best. Put two olive slices down on each bagel in the gap left for the eyes. Bake at 350 degrees F for about 10 minutes (or until cheese is melted).
