Motorola Quench ? Making The Old Come Alive

Motorola Quench ? Making The Old Come Alive
Until we saw what Motorola can do with an antiquated Android 1.5 Cupcake, it has always been our first choice to get a smartphone with the latest version of its OS. The eight Android phone revealed by the world’s third largest phone maker at the 2010 World Mobile congress is one such phone.
It’s the Motorola QUENCH with MOTROBLUR, powered by a Qualcomm MSM7291A clocked at 528 MHz. It goes to show that the Android versions are really different platforms that can be tweaked to update its features and further confirms our suspicion that Google never had plans to have any upgrade path to its later versions. The new Acer Liquid e is another confirmation on that suspicion as it runs the new 2.1 Éclair with nothing new when Acer could have just offered an OS upgrade to the earlier Liquid it released last November.
With the QUENCH, it is plain an upgrade no longer matters. You have an Android running a 1.5 Cupcake that has some of the best features for an Android phone. We can now understand why Sony Ericsson is sticking to the same old Android 1.6 Donut on its XPERIA X10 because with its own Rachel/UX user interface, it can maintain an edge to anything running the Éclair. Even with an upgrade path, users may not want to upgrade but that means any porting to proprietary UI such as the HTC Sense, or the SE Rachel as well as the Motorola MOTOBLUR will disappear entirely with the new OS upgrade.
Defining a New Android Experience
The QUENCH comes with the MOTOBLUR which Motorola calls a content delivery service forming the core of the unique Android experience it is offering. It synchronizes your phonebook contacts, media content, messaging and email trail with your social networking sources in a single home screen location.
Entertainment offers another unique feature like media players that connects online with YouTube, TuneWiki, SoundHound and GoTv for you to access and download new media content sic while playing your favorite media together with 3rd party apps. There’s also FM stereo streaming support.
It has a radical data input option called SWYPE feature from the same geniuses who invented the T9 predictive text facility. You only need to trace or swipe a finger across a virtual QWERTY on the 3.1-inch capacitive touchscreen to spell the word you need. With the usual accelerometer and proximity sensors its WideVGA screens also features a rich Web browsing experience with pinch-zoom ability.
Other than these, the QUENCH is every inch an upscale Android smartphone that does everything else you see in smartphones on the new Android 2.1 Éclair. Among others, it’s a 3G phone on the triple band UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA and a quad band GSM/GPRS/EDGE on 2G. It has WiFi. A-GPS and the usual Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP for local data transfers.
Imaging comes with a 5 megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash and CIF video recording at 25fps. Stereo listening on headphones gets a choice of using wired 3.5mm headphone jack or wireless Bluetooth A2DP.
Availability
Most of the new Android smartphones announced as early as December including those announced at the 2010 MWC including the Motorola QUENCH with MOTOBLUR will start shipping in the first quarter. The QUENCH will come in four body colors – while, black, purple and licorice. Its retail package will come with a free 2 GB microSD card in its retail kit. Just like all newly announced handsets, no pricing information is disclosed. But with its feature set, expect this to come in the same price point as other upscale Android smartphones.

Make Money Making Something

Make Money Making Something
Do you have the ability to make something? From building custom birdhouses to cupcakes, if you know how to make something worth selling, you can make money with your creations. Construction minded people might use their skills to build custom furniture, or do handyman repairs, as well as go as far as getting a contractor’s license and do big time repairs and remodels for people. Cupcake masters can vend their wares at festivals; bake sales, or even go as far as packaging their product for retail sale in stores. Whatever it is you can build, make, create, or repair, you can definitely bring in some cash with just such a skill.
Having a special talent that others would pay for the end product is truly an amazing resource to have. You may not try and make a living with your skill, but you can certainly make money on the side with your talent, or turn it into a future business venture. If you build custom things, you may start building your items and store them up over a period of time, and merely sell them down the road after you have built up a solid inventory of product. Could you imagine supplementing your retirement with the custom woodworking projects you have done over the past ten years, or selling your recipes you have established through the years?
Being able to make money from something that is often just a hobby that brings you so much enjoyment is truly a blessing. Many people do not go into their shop and work for hours on end on things they hate doing, or slave away in a hot kitchen day after day unless they are getting some satisfaction from it. You could really create a business doing such things, and may eventually make that hobby or interest your permanent gig.
Don’t sell yourself short when it comes to your true level of talent when you evaluate your work. You may think that your work is just average, until you sell it and find out many people find your skills to be top-notch, and your items worth a lot of money. Capitalize on your ability to make money and bring in all the cash you can from doing what you love to do. It would be foolish to not make as much money as you can, especially during tough economic times like we are living in right now.

On Mothers Day Making your Mom Feel Special

On Mothers Day Making your Mom Feel Special
It doesn’t take much to make mom feel special on her day! Maybe breakfast, maybe flowers, the choice is yours. If you give mom a special breakfast, be sure you don’t spill the beans ahead of time. Most times moms want to be there watching who is messing up her kitchen.
A good idea for mom for Mothers Day is make her breakfast and serve her in bed. If you choose to serve mom breakfast you may want to plan ahead. If you plan on flowers, make sure you order them early so that they arrive a day before.
If you plan on having mom over for a wonderful dinner you plan to cook, tell her that you want to surprise her, not to make any plans for that evening. If she has made plans ask her if you can do it the next night or the night before. Don’t tell her what you are doing, just ask her to dinner.
A few decorations for mom, you can get a few balloons that are filled with helium and decorate her chair with them. Instead of giving big gifts, it’s the little thanks that are more appreciated. Have the grandkids make her a card, by hand. This too is a tear jerker! Moms love hand made items. They appreciate the time it took to make such things.
After dinner, make her a special cupcake dessert. By having cupcakes, there is not too much of a mess, no extras! Have the kids decorate the cupcakes but have one set aside that they all do together, this is her special one! For this moms will appreciate their day and feel special.

Pecan Pralines: Making That Pecan Taste Great

Pecan Pralines: Making That Pecan Taste Great
Anyone can make pecan pralines. The recipe is so simple that even the most uninformed in the kitchen can follow the 7 straightforward steps in making pecan pralines. But, there is a great deal of difference between making pecan pralines and making pecan pralines that taste great.
You can start with the standard recipe that everyone uses for pecan pralines. All you need are several available ingredients and you are ready to start.
Prepare 2 cups of brown sugar, ¼ cup of water, ¼ cup of evaporated milk, 2 cups of pecan pieces and halves, 2 teaspoons of vanilla, and 3 tablespoons of chilled butter cut in pieces. Put the sugar, milk, and water in a saucepan and mix. You can choose to butter the sides of the pan so the contents won’t stick. Heat the mixture until it boils, all the while stirring continuously to dissolve the sugar. Keep on doing this until the contents of your saucepan attains a soft ball consistency. You will know that you’ve reached this point when a drop of the mixture in chilled water forms a ball yet evens out when lifted up with the fingers. If you have a candy thermometer, you can check the temperature to see if it is between 2340 to 2400. Remove the mixture from the heat. Add the pecans, vanilla, and butter. Stir the butter and vanilla in thoroughly. Spoon the candy onto the wax paper. Add a little hot water to the mixture if it becomes too thick to transfer to the wax paper.
Getting that perfect pecan praline may take several experiments. Even following this standard recipe can give different results. Some people may have to eat batches upon batches of burnt, too-soft, too-thick, or especially dry pecan pralines before they get that perfect pecan praline. Others find it easy to whip up perfectly delicious pecan pralines without making more than one attempt. Each person also has his or her own preference that’s why some key ingredients are added to taste. There also are variations in the key steps involved to create that perfect praline.
There are an infinite number of ways to make your own distinctive pecan pralines. You can try adding bourbon or dark rum. You can use heavy or sour cream instead of evaporated milk. You can cook the butter with the sugar. Even toasting the pecans, which brings out the natural buttery caramel flavor, can also work. You can make creamier pecan pralines with light corn syrup or you can add cherries or marshmallows. You can add flavor with coconut, vanilla, chocolate, and peanut butter. You can pour the praline mixture over graham crackers and bake this in the oven to make praline bars or squares. Pecan pralines can even be used in muffins, cupcakes, cakes, or cheesecakes. There is no limit to where pecan praline mixtures can take you. Mixing pecan pralines with any of these desserts can create many an interesting outcome. The natural flavor of pecans allows this. You’ll just have to be imaginative and enough of a sweet tooth to have the patience to try things out.
Tanner’s Pecans and Candies has delicious pecan pralines, pies, and other sweet treats. Pecan Pralines never tasted this good.

Cream of tartar is a leavening agent. If you have baking powder in your recipe you might be able to get away without using it but there is really no substitute for it.
