Five Popular Themes for a Girl’s Party

Girls love to be princesses, ballerinas or fairies. They can imagine beautiful stories and they can act everything out. Bringing fantasies to the real world can turn a simple birthday party into a great success.

Certain themes are exceptionally appropriate and loveable when you are trying to organize the most beautiful birthday party for your daughter and her friends.

The themes have to focus on the characters and activities that little girls love. It will be easy to come up with an appropriate theme on your own. If you are looking for some inspiration, keep on reading to discover the five most popular themes for a girl’s birthday party or any other special occasion.

Fairies and Princesses
Girls love fairytale princesses and fairies. The good news is that this party can be organized effortlessly.

Go through several online stores. You will discover dozens of princess-themed party supplies: balloons, tableware, napkins and even costumes. Costumes are a great idea if you are looking for some fun activities for the kids.

Remember that the invitation should provide information about the theme. You can even ask guests to come prepared. Magic wands, princess tiaras and lace can all make the fairytale come to reality.

]]>

If you feel like doing everything on your own, you can make decorations by yourself. Use your drawing skills to depict palaces and the chambers of the princess. Candles, lacy curtains and pink balloons will all be excellent decorations.

Butterflies and Flowers
A butterfly and flowers theme is best for the spring and summer. Holding such a party in a garden will make it even more special.

Use flower bouquets to decorate the place. Butterfly drawings will add to the delicate atmosphere.

Have girls drawing their favorite flowers or hire professional face painters to turn all of the young ladies into butterflies. Such activities will keep girls intrigued throughout the party.

Foods and decorations need to be colored in pale, pastel shades. Cupcakes can easily turn into wonderful flowers. The buffet itself could resemble a garden. Cake decorations should come in the form of flowers and butterflies, as well.

Pool or Beach Party Theme
Take girls to the beach, even if the party is held indoors or during the winter. Creating a beach theme will also be fun and easy.

Flip-flops, blue colored decorations, artificial palms, sand and sea shells can be used to turn the room into a private beach for the young group of ladies.

Choose summertime music and refreshing drinks. You can even ask the guests to come dressed in a certain way.

Ballet and Dancing
Each little girl has wished to be a ballerina during a certain stage of her life. A ballet-theme will get all the ladies dreaming.

Dancing needs to be the focus of this party. Get the guests competing against each other and prepare little prices for the winners. To make the setting more authentic, create little ballet tutus that the girls can wear while dancing.

Jungle Animals and Safari
This theme is probably appropriate for very young ladies. Most little girls love animals. They will have fun exploring the jungle wildlife and taking a wonderful trip while attending a party.

Have jungle decorations and animal drawings prepared. Focus on giraffes, lions, gazelles, rhinos, elephants and zebras. A jungle animal party will be very colorful and the room will look splendid.

How to Host a Candy Themed Party

Category: Articles

How to Host a Candy Themed Party

The word “candy” is powerful enough to excite kids like Santa on Christmas morning and take adults back to their carefree childhood memories. Even the most health conscious people have a weakness in their hearts for some type of candy. Some may love chocolate, while for others, gummy bears are the sweets they can’t resist. With sweets being the ultimate comfort food for people of all ages, it’s no wonder that candy themed parties for both children and adults have become increasingly popular these last few years.

Candy themed parties can be easily hosted at home by incorporating a wide variety of candy-themed activities, games and refreshments. For children, how you plan a candy themed shindig is mostly based on the ages of the kids attending. For small children, parties should be simpler in décor and the amount of skill required for games and activities. Parents of kids of any age can start out by setting the tone for their gathering by sending out candy themed or candy decorated invitations. The next step is to use candy themed supplies like balloons, decorations, plates and cups. Once these basics are set up, it is time for the fun part of the planning.

A major part of any successful kids’ parties are the games and activities that will keep children entertained. Candy and dessert themed crafts are a great way to differentiate from traditional staples like pin-the-tail on-the-donkey and Simon Says. Kids as young as 3 years old can partake in a wide variety of fun stuff that will let them personalize their own edible creations. With Sugar Cookie Decorating, children can break out the frosting and candies and pretend to be a great pastry chef as they design their own cookie.

Chocolate Sculptures is another popular activity that kids as young as 3 can enjoy even though it sounds more complex than it really is. Children just pick a sculpture that catches their fancy and then create their own masterpiece with candy, sprinkles and frosting.

For kids who prefer a giant wad of chewing gum to chocolate, Gumball Machine Decorating lets them give a machine a makeover with markers and edible decorations, plus a complimentary bag of gumballs to get that machine truly rolling.

For children who are a bit older at 5 and over, the crafts get a little more intensive, with activities like Candy Jewelry and Sugar Art. Little girls with a sweet tooth who are also aspiring fashionistas will adore making Candy Jewelry, as it combines the best of both worlds. Kids get to create their own bracelet or necklace made entirely of edible beads and charms for a piece that not only looks greats but tastes great too.

Another fun choice for kids over 5 years old is Sugar Art. Children get to pick their own vessel then fill it with over 10 choices of colored sugar, creating pretty and edible layers as they go.

Kids over 7 years old have even more craft options to choose from, as they can decorate Picture Frames, Masks, Crowns or Door Hangers with various forms of candy to make their own unique design. They can also recreate cool images with the sweet stuff by making their own Candy Mosaic.

Once the crafts are done, it is time for Candy-themed games for some good old-fashioned birthday party fun. For kids ages 3 and up, Licorice Limbo and Candy Bingo are sweet updates on classic party games that are even more fun with a sugar rush.

Children ages 5 and over have even more choices of games that make use of physical, mental, and Kobayashi-esque eating skills. On the physical side is the Jawbreaker Relay, where teams relay race with a 1-pound jawbreaker. Meanwhile, Candymonium is a combined treasure hunt and candy relay race all in one.

On the mental side is the Estimation Bowl, where children must guess the amount of candy the bowl contains.

Finally, though not exactly physical or mental, the Licorice Race is also popular, as teams race to eat an extra long piece of licorice. Could the future Coney Island Hot Dog Eating Champ be in training at your shindig?

Kids over 8 years old also have some great age-appropriate games to play at candy themed parties. Musical Dares is an updated twist on musical chairs but with a dare to eat a gross candy if left chairless. There are also the games Name that Candy, a Warhead Contest and an Atomic Fireball Contest.

Once the crafts are completed and the games have been played, it is time to bring on the sweet treats. Sure, there is the traditional birthday cake and ice cream, but parents who want their child’s birthday party to be the one the kids will talk about all year long can take things up a notch with something really special. Carnival style cotton candy or vintage popcorn machines are always popular options to add some nostalgia to any party. Or, for a more Willy Wonka themed take, a Chocolate Waterfall provides a multi-tiered magical chocolate river of dark, milk or Belgian varieties for guests to dip pretzels or marshmallow skewers in.

Parents who want a more traditional dessert element for their candy themed party have some excellent choices with a Dessert Buffet of rice krispy treats, cupcakes, cookies, brownies and fudge, or an Ice Cream Sundae Bar, where guests can create their own sundaes. They can also opt to have a Candy Bar on the Go where guests can mix and match their favorites for a party favor that everyone will love.

Candy themed parties are simple to plan and even easier to host, as no matter what a person’s age is, the appeal of the sweet stuff is universal. All is takes is a little Willy Wonka-like imagination to put together a candy themed party that will be a hit with guests young and old.

Having a Fun Type of 1st Birthday Party to Showcase your Baby

Having a Fun Type of 1st Birthday Party to Showcase your Baby

These baby parties can be formal occasions where you want to showcase your baby and show how well you are coping with life, work, entertaining and your baby. On the other hand you could just have a really fun type of baby’s 1st birthday party.

For this type of birthday you really just need to keep a few facts in mind. Since you are going to be having your baby at the party it is best to keep things simple. Planning on having a buffet style table of food is one of the best ways to keep your guest feeling relaxed as they can socialize and eat at the same time.

Keep the buffet food stuff to tasty but simple menus. You should plan on a variety of different sandwiches, hotdogs, pizza slices, burgers, fried chicken pieces, salads, bread rolls and lots of tasty cakes, sweets, and drinks.

For added enjoyment having lots of brightly colored balloons strung around the site of the birthday will encourage your one year to look around at the various items that can be seen. This is a good way to encourage their interest in people. As birthday cake is one type of food that kids love to eat you should buy a large sized cake in soft bright colors that have lots of icing.

When you are looking at the different types of birthday cakes that you can buy for a 1st birthday party, you will see that besides the traditional clown or teddy bear and in colors other than blue and pink there are many other types of birthday cakes. These cakes are found in shapes like Scooby-Doo, Bart Simpson, My Little Pony, Barbie, a fireman and many others.

There is one item that you might want to do for a 1st birthday party and that is to have small individual birthday cakes for the children to eat as they wish. These little birthday cakes don’t have to very expensive.

What you can do is to buy lots of cupcakes in flavors like chocolate or vanilla and decorate these “cakes” with tons of frosting. To make the cupcakes look even more delicious and festive you should sprinkle some multicolored M&Ms or sprinkles over these little cakes.

Even though your baby is still too small to fully enjoy the party you can plan on having lots of fun games like Pin the tail on the Donkey, breaking Piñatas, Musical chairs and you can even have a mystery treasure hunt for your small guests to enjoy. Have lots of chairs placed everywhere for your guests to relax in your house and garden.

By keeping things simple but enjoyable both you and your guests will enjoy celebrating your baby’s 1st birthday party. As the party winds down you will have a store of memories and photographs to share with your baby once they are a little older.

The Perfect Princess Tea Party: Easy As 1, 2, Tea!

Category: Articles

The Perfect Princess Tea Party: Easy As 1, 2, Tea!

Whether it’s a special occasion like her birthday or Easter or just an ordinary day, having the perfect princess tea party is as easy as 1, 2, 3.

Planning the perfect princess can be as much as fun as the tea party itself. You are only limited by your imagination. If your little princess is old enough, use this time to plan the tea party together and make the experience extra special.

You want to first start out with a theme. Choosing a specific theme can make planning so much easier. For example if you want to do a Cinderella theme party, you already know that everything should be silver, light blue and white. If you want to choose a simple princess themed that is not character based, then white, pink, purple and yellow are the basic colors used most often.

After choosing your theme, you must now choose the invitations and party dcor. If you are planning a formal tea party, choose an elegant invitation. If you are creating your invitation this is easy to achieve by choosing a script font and pretty, dainty paper. For extra elegance incorporate a bow or lace to the invitation. For a more whimsical party, try using glitter and stickers to jazz up your invitations.

The party decor should follow suit. An elegant tea party should use linen table covers and napkins. Use porcelain, silver or ceramic tea set and adorn the table with a floral centerpiece. Silver cutlery compliment will compliment any of the tea sets wonderfully. To finish off the table dcor add strings of faux pearls and rose petals.

The whimsical princess tea party is a lot less formal, but can be just as pretty fun. A plastic or porcelain tea set will work great. You can find lots of pretty plastic tea sets with the Disney Princesses on them. Cutlery can be colorful plastic ware used for a party. Table covers can be plastic or paper. Coordinate the table ware, table cover and napkins for a more uniformed and festive look. Fill a basket with faux flowers or jewelry and use as a centerpiece. The whimsical tea party is less expensive and is better suited for the princesses under age 8.

]]>

The princess tea party menu can be just as simple. Keep in mind that the food is for little fingers and tummies when you create the menu. Your little princess’ input can be a huge help. What’s a tea party without tea? I don’t know too many little princesses that are regular tea drinkers. Try substituting hot tea for iced tea. This is a great solution for the younger princesses. They can still pour their own tea without the worries of burning themselves. It also works well with the plastic tea sets. Another alternative is tea filled with fruit. These teas taste more like fruit punch and the princesses won’t even know the difference.

Keep the foods small. The children’s tea sets are small and the food should be able to fit on the plates perfectly. Finger sandwiches, mini croissants, mini muffins and small tea cookies work well. If the tea party is for a birthday party, try substituting a traditional birthday cake for cupcakes. Place the cupcakes on a tier pedestal for a festive look.

Keep the princesses entertained with a few princess tea party games. A princess favorite is kiss the frog. Place a disposable picture of a frog on the wall. Apply lipstick to each princess. One by one blindfold each princess and spin her around a few times. She them kisses the frog. Whichever princess comes closest to the frog’s lips is the winner. If she is lucky enough she may just have found her prince.

A few more games are:

Which Princess Sings This? Each princess can sing and act out the scene of a princess movie and the rest have to guess the princess and movie. Can be made more challenging by not singing and just acting it out.

Royal Findings this game is great for the younger princesses. Before the party begins hide several princess themed articles around the party area. Examples include crowns, wands, jewels etc. Whatever they find they can keep or trade. Be sure to either hide plenty for everyone or give them each a turn. After they find one thing, it’s the next princesses turn.

Last but not least is Dress Up. For a more formal tea party the princesses can wear their own very pretty party dresses. For the more whimsical party purchase a dress up trunk and allow the girls to swap outfits. Put out a spread of jewels, make up and feather boas and watch the beauties emerge.

Other princess activities include make your own tiara, design your own slipper and make your own wand. Most craft stores carry these party activities kits or can find them online at party or princess websites. Another option is to find articles that tell you how to create these projects yourself without having to purchase the kits.

Other tips to keep in mind are:

Most tea sets come with enough pieces for 4 people. You may need to purchase several tea sets to accommodate a larger party.

A whimsical tea party is suggested for princesses under age 8. The tea sets and dcor are better suited for them. With plastic table covers and tea sets, mishaps are a breeze to clean up.

If you need to purchase several tea sets, you don’t want to be left with so many sets after the party is over. Give each princess their table setting as their favor. You can purchase nice gift boxes to place the set in after cleaning. Adorn with a bow and tag with party information.

Use the table time to teach the princesses proper table manners and etiquette. This may be more suitable for the older princesses. A 3 year old may have a hard time figuring out what you are talking about. So if you are trying to teach a room full of 3 years olds, you can wind up pulling your hair out.

Most of all have fun!

Planning a Child’s Birthday Party on a Budget

Planning a Child’s Birthday Party on a Budget

To many children, a birthday is the single most important day of the year. And to many parents, it’s a day of both celebration and stress, as they strive to make their child’s special day a memorable event. Crafting a fun, unique party for your son or daughter isn’t always easy especially if you’re feeling pressured to measure up to the over-the-top events hosted by the parents of your child’s peers. But rest assured, there’s no need to spend big bucks in order to throw a bash you, and your child, will be proud of; all it takes is some planning, imagination, and a little elbow grease. Here are a few tips to get you on your way to hosting a memorable birthday party for your son or daughter, without blowing your budget.

1. Stick to your own turf
Often times, overpriced birthday parties begin with expensive venues. Instead of renting out a restaurant or other entertainment venue, plan your party at home. Using a fraction of what it would cost to rent a swanky party venue, you can buy everything you need to turn your back yard or living room into the perfect spot for a great party. Work with your child to pick a theme, and let that guide your overall decor plan. Warm-weather birthday’s are particularly conducive to outdoor parties. Do you have a slip n slide, water guns, or a plastic wading pool in the garage? Pull them out for a fun-in-the-sun birthday your child is sure to enjoy.

2. Embrace the theme
Just like your decor, the theme your child chooses should dictate (and be reflected in) every aspect of the party from the food, to the invitations, to the music and activities. And keep the birthday boy or girl involved in the entire planning process (although you may want to keep a few surprises up your sleeve), this way, you can be sure he or she enjoys the party after all, isn’t that the most important thing?

3. Simplify, simplify
It’s easy to go overboard when planning a child’s party, but instead of floor-to-ceiling decorations, a sit-down meal, and a gourmet cake, why not stick to a more moderate approach? Use decorations thoughtfully, and don’t over-decorate. Instead of buying costumes for all of the kids to wear, include on the invitations that it’s a costume party and let them create their own. Skip a full meal for fun, kid-friendly snacks like chips, cookies, and mini sandwiches (and stick to your theme as much as possible!). And instead of a huge, complicated cake, why not make cupcakes for your child’s special day? Turn the dessert into an activity by setting up a cupcake decorating table and letting each child decorate his or her own all you have to provide are the toppings!

Regardless of your child’s age or interests, a little imagination, communication, and preparation are all you need to plan and host the perfect birthday party. Remember, the most important thing is that your child enjoys the event, so keep him or her involved throughout the planning process, and you’re sure to have a special day he or she won’t soon forget.

First Birthday Party Planning & Tips

How to plan a First Birthday Party for your child

Everyday of life should be a time of celebration. However, a Baby’s 1st Birthday is unique and should be celebrated accordingly. Think of it like, it is one year ago that this adored Baby was brought into your world. Of course, at a one year of age the Baby doesn’t seem to know what is happening, but it is still a time to celebrate. It is an event that you can look back on for years to come. It is as much a celebration of your achievements in the baby’s life as it is an achievement for your baby’s development.

Here are some 1st birthday party ideas to help you better plan your kids first birthday party.

decide early whether or not you want a particular birthday party theme. Birthday themes make it easier to shop for birthday supplies and birthday decorations. A theme will also bring a sense of harmony to the whole atmosphere. A typical baby blue for boys and pink for girls theme could do the trick. But any theme could work : Jungle party, Safari Party, princess party, pirate party, Animal party, train party, character party, just to name a few. You can serve cupcakes, a sheet cake or make a cake to match the party theme. Birthday party favors for the children that attend your kids party are great way to end your party. You can put together goodies bags that match your theme very cheaply by shopping online. A simple search under birthday party favors, party supplies, birthday decorations, kids party supplies, kids birthday, birthday theme, could turn great results. You can just as easily personalize your first birthday party invitations to fit your theme or style. choose the best children entertainer for your 1st kids Birthday party, a professional children entertainer can add a lot of value to your event and make it especially memorable. Pictures:

Take lots of pictures, remember this day and remember how easy and stress-free it was. As they get older they’ll have time to celebrate with big parties and actually remember them.

Food:

Pizza is a favorite food for kids. If you want to keep this short and sweet, finger foods are perfect. Cupcakes at the end are great. Everyone gets the same portion, and your little one can be as messy as they want with their own private cake.

Allowing your baby to open his or her presents maybe cute for 10 seconds but your guests are going to get bored very fast. Toddlers love their Cheerios! Put out a bowl of cheerios for the toddlers and pretzels, crackers for older kids. Placing the bowls next to chips and dip for the adults can be fun for kids! Use your judgment.

As a kids birthday party entertainer and father of four kids, my best advise for new parents who are putting on their very 1st kids birthday party is to relax during the party. You have planned your party well, you have recruited some friends and family to help organize your party. There will be a few surprises during the party, if you take it with ease. Your guests will sense that you are calm and relaxed and will automatically follow suit.

Safety Tips for Birthdays:

Balloons, If they burst they can be inhaled and cause a child to choke. Hard candy, bonbons or Finger Foods like raisins, M&Ms or popcorn can cause chocking as well. Be careful where you put your matches or lighter for the birthday cake. Save any sweets until the end of the party, other wise the kids will have to run wild during the party.

Enjoy your child’s party because there will never be another “first” birthday party for your baby.
